reflection on how to make a brochure/magazine

In class we did the first part of the project on the brochure or magazine part of creating our own sports gear and I will do a reflection of what I did. I think I did quite well in this part of the project because I managed to complete the 5 questions, and I explained them with great detail. I have answered all my questions with accuracy and I have worked very productively in class.

creating a brochure/magazine

The problem is when the other team is about to score a goal, and the goalkeeper jumps for it and only just touches the ball but it still manages to get into the goal, we need a product that will solve that problem and that won’t let the ball in the goal that easily. Well that is where the sticky goalkeeper gloves come in, these gloves will prevent the ball from going in the goal if the goalkeeper touches the ball and almost saving it, the sticky gloves will then come to work and will get the ball stuck onto the gloves so the ball won’t go in.

1.    What are the different brochures/magazines that might be used by a business? What are they used for?

The different brochures that can be used are ones with different designs, organization, business, events, and products, also they advertise for different companies, some can be for a selling point or some can be used for advice or directions.

The different magazines that can be used are generally published on a particular timing and contain a variety of content. The different types are by advertising, by a purchase price, by prepaid subscriptions, or a combination of the three. The word "magazine" refers to a collection or storage location. In the written publication, it is an assortment of written articles.

2.    What do the design of sports gear and brochure look like?

The design of my sports gear is for football and it is sticky goalie gloves and the back hand of the gloves it made out of white, blue and red leather and the palm part of the glove will be made out of a sticky material that only sticks on football but let’s go when ball is released.

The different brochures look like professional brochures for companies to sell or casual brochures for restaurants, toys selling point etc. All brochures come in different colors, fonts, designs and layouts, they are all arranged in different ways to show their product or what they are advertising.

3.    How should the layout of the business brochure/ magazine look like?

·      Front Cover: This must be able to capture the reader’s attention by using colorful pictures/text, the most important benefit of the product, a rhetorical question to get the reader thinking or very little but important key information about the product.

·      Back Cover: The inside front cover is designed to persuade someone about the product, for example, why they need it, what does it do, how will it help them, etc. This is usually done with rhetorical questions, and usually some straightforward questions that must end in yes to avoid losing the reader’s attention.

·      Information Pages: The other four pages of a brochure are all information pages that tell the readers all about the product, informing them all about the product, it advantages, the location and key information of where you can buy it, price details and most importantly, which also very discretely cover up the disadvantages.

4.    Choose and decide what you would like to create to advertise your sports gear through a brochure/poster or leaflet? Also explain why?

For my sports product, I would like to create a brochure. I prefer to create a brochure rather than a poster or flier because of many different reasons. Firstly, a brochure can contain much more information compared to any other type of advertisement because it has more space and more places for key information that is very important. Secondly, a brochure can contain all the factors of a flier and poster because it has many more pictures describing and much more space for information that the reader would definitely want to know. Also the poster has very little detail, and fliers cannot be controlled to a specific area of advertisement.

5.    5. Investigate three different softwares that you can use to create the advertising material. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each type of software? What are the features?

The first and foremost software that I can use to create my brochure is Microsoft Publisher. Microsoft publisher is known worldwide and I am very familiar to this software because I have used it all my life. Publisher is very easy to use, graphics are easily imported and formatted, there are numerous templates and it includes professional printing and publishing options. However, publisher has a very slow installation process, most school computers do not have it, it is not particularly useful for offices and it has no Apple OS versions, making it difficult for me to work with as I only have access to Apple devices.

Lucid press is the second software I have looking into, and this software looks interesting because it looks very simple to use and it has many features such as cool displays, and many new options that publisher does not. The advantages of Lucid press is that it is extremely easy to use, it is free, it can be done online, it has a large number of templates, it has a vast amount of features but the disadvantages are that it is slightly harder to export the brochure when completed and that you must be connect to Wi-Fi to work on your brochure.

The third and last software I’ve been looking at is Arc Soft. Arc Soft has some very interesting features such as advanced photo and text composition, photo editing software, and coding processes for more innovative work. The software includes advantages such as a built in tutorial, several amazing features and easy accessibility however it is far too complex for a student to be using and it is not free.
